Current Project
Polaris — Ultra-Low Temp Cryotherapy System (R&D → Production)
I’m currently at CryoBuilt, building ultra-low temperature cryotherapy systems. My focus right now is wrapping up R&D on the Polaris, which is planned to move into full production at the end of 2025.
Role
Systems/Controls Engineer — R&D to production readiness
Timeline
2024–2025 (production ramp: Q4 2025)
Focus
Reliability, controls validation, safety/UX, manufacturing prep
Overview
Polaris is a next-generation cryotherapy system designed for consistent ultra-low temperatures with operational reliability and serviceability. As we close R&D, my work centers on converting a successful prototype into a production-ready platform with repeatable build and test steps.
Problem → Bridge the gap from R&D prototype to repeatable production units while maintaining ultra-low temp performance, safety, and uptime.
Approach → Instrumentation & test harnesses, fault-mode analysis, controls hardening, build documentation,
and manufacturing checks (fixtures, test procedures, BOM/Rev control). Collaborate across mechanical, electrical, and production teams.
Outcome → Production-ready control strategy, verified safety interlocks, clean build/test docs, and
a path for service/maintenance—targeting production start by end of 2025.
My contributions
- Defined acceptance tests and environmental/run-in procedures for controls and safety states.
- Hardened control logic for fault tolerance and clear operator feedback (alarms, states, recovery steps).
- Wrote build & test documentation to support consistent manufacturing and field service.
- Partnered with mechanical/electrical leads to simplify assemblies and reduce points of failure.
- Drove “why do we do it like that?” reviews to remove fragile steps and improve reliability.

What’s next
- Finalize validation test plan across environmental ranges and duty cycles.
- Lock Rev controls (BOM, wiring, firmware) for production transfer.
- Operator training materials and first-article build support.
